FREEDOM GUITAR COMES TO HUNTSVILLE

The one of a kind Les Paul guitar was produced by the Gibson Custom shop using the original copper recovered from the refurbishment of the Statue of liberty in 1980's. The body is made of solid oak recovered from the stairs that once led up to the Statue of Liberty on Ellis Island. The pickup casings, machine heads, and decorative inlays are all made from the original French copper that once graced the 

Statue of Liberty. The volume knobs and pickup selector are the original bolts the once held the Statue of Liberty together and the pickup selector still exhibit the threads of the bolt tip. The phrase the "Spirit of America" followed by 50 stars lines the outer body of the guitar. The fret board contains mother of pearl inlays and exhibits the phrase "Let Freedom Ring".

This beautiful guitar found its way through our doors one hot summer day when our air conditioner was on the brink (it was HOT!). The men who were handling the guitar had never heard it played, so they were told to bring it to Tim. Tim happily demoed the Les Paul to the gentlemen (which weighed about 30 lbs) and even adjusted the torsion rod to correct a slight bow in the neck. After taking a few minutes to get the 

guitar to stay in tune (a common problem for Les Paul's), Tim engaged into long string of guitar rifts. How did it sound? AMAZING. This one of a kind guitar also produced a one of a kind sound: it had the warmth and feel of a Les Paul but the brightness and versatility of a Fender Telecaster (even though Gibson probably 

wouldn't like this comparison). We were fortunate to be able to be able to play with the guitar, which will soon be going on its national tour. It just goes to show you that in a music store, anything can happen.
